3 Steps to Maintaining Motivation

white peacock

I loved watching this peacock strut his stuff. Perfect for maintaining motivation.

In my last post I talked about the benefits of having clarity. If you missed it, you can read it here: BENEFITS OF CLARITY. In that post, I promised to talk about maintaining motivation and momentum. Why? Because when you’re clear about what you want and start making progress towards it, obstacles will come. They show up in the form of limiting beliefs, remarks by people of influence in your life, and life events. To live the life you really want to live, you have to be able to keep going despite what’s going on in your life. So, how do you do it? Here are some things you can do to keep motivated to have the life you really want.

3 Steps to Take for Maintaining Motivation to Live The Life You Really Want:

  1. Regroup and ask if what you’re going after is still what you want.
This one can be tough to do, especially if you’ve been pursuing something for a long time. However, it may be exactly what’s needed for maintaining motivation.
  2. Create a written motivation plan.
This plan should include music you listen to that perks you up, motivational videos/podcasts, and activities that you enjoy. When your motivation starts to dwindle grab your list and do some of the things on there whether you want to or not.
  3. Surround yourself with people who are taking consistent action in their lives.
The company you keep is so important. There’s a saying that goes “You lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas.” This saying is so true. You may think who you surround yourself with isn’t affecting you but it is. Maintaining motivation is going to require that you choose your companions wisely.

It’s important to maintain your momentum by staying motivated if you are going to live the life you really want. When you’re not motivated you more than likely won’t take action. Which of the 3 steps will you be implementing? I’m offering a complimentary conversation to help you with maintaining motivation to have the life you really desire. Schedule your call HERE.

5 Things Entrepreneurs Can Do to Stay Focused on Business

As an entrepreneur or aspiring entrepreneur making time to focus on your business can be challenging. Did you notice that I used the word “making” time vs having time?

When I first started my business I could not “find the time” to consistently work on my business. There was always something seemingly more urgent requiring my attention. I would say to myself, “tomorrow I’ll have more time.” Of course, this cycle kept repeating itself and I hardly ever had more time.

The truth is that I had enough time to focus on my business and so do you. My issue (and probably yours too) was I did not make my business a priority. When you are not focused on your business you do business when you can “squeeze in time” for it or when it’s convenient for you. Think about it, if you’re in a relationship and spent time with your significant other only when it was convenient for you, is that relationship a priority? Are you focused on that relationship? Do you think the relationship will flourish? The same is true for your business. If it’s not a priority, if it doesn’t have your focus, you won’t have much traction in your business.

You want to have a foundation for your business that leads to success. Being focused on your business is a necessary part of the foundation.

Here are 5 things you can do to stay focused on your business:

1. Get really clear about what you want for your business.

Focus is “directed attention” (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/focus). To stay focused you have to know what you’re directing your attention towards. By getting clear about what you want from your business you will have something to focus on. Take the time to find this out.

2. Write down what really matters.

Ask yourself why you’re doing what you do and stick it up somewhere to remind yourself. There may be days where you’ll have to remind yourself why you’re in business in order to stay focused; on those days you’ll be glad you did this exercise.

3. Say yes to you.

You have to stop putting yourself last. Believe it or not, it’s hard to focus on business when you’re not a priority in your own life. Make time for you.

4. Make a plan to have whatever you wrote in #1 and take action on it.

You’ll stay focused when you have a plan for making the business you desire a reality. Create a realistic plan and implement it. Each time you take action, your focus will grow stronger. You can do it!

5. Sometimes you need help and it’s ok.

Honestly, you are smart and you can take action on your own. However, since you’re reading this, you probably don’t have clarity, a plan of action, or the discipline required for taking consistent action right now and it’s ok. It just means that you can continue to wait for the motivation to come or you can have someone help you get there quicker. You decide.

There you have it, 5 Things Entrepreneurs Can Do To Stay Focused on Business.

If taking consistent, focused action is the hardest thing for you to do right now, schedule a complimentary conversation with me let’s see how I can help. SCHEDULE CALL

3 Reasons Being an Entrepreneur is a Good Idea

You may be reading this right now and secretly, you want to start a business but you’re afraid to say yes and commit to the wonderful journey that is entrepreneurship. Yes, I said “wonderful” and here’s why I believe that being an entrepreneur is a good idea.

  1. Probably the most obvious reason for being an entrepreneur is for the ability to make money. Not just make money, but the ability to increase your income whenever you desire. You don’t have to get anyone’s permission, just decide and take action. How cool is that?
  2. Flexibility. Let me tell you, being able to work on your own schedule is priceless. Vacationing when you want, taking time off to attend your children’s functions, time off for quiet time, whatever you want, being able to do it when you want is a great benefit of being an entrepreneur.
  3. Peace of mind. If deep down you know that you are supposed to be an entrepreneur and you’re turning your back on it for whatever reason; trust me, you will not have peace until you say “yes” to what God has placed in your heart to do. The restlessness, the feeling that there has to be more to your life, the feeling of being out of place, they will all intensify. Say “yes” and have some peace in your life.

There you have it, 3 reasons being an entrepreneur is a good idea. I’m not saying that being an entrepreneur is all peaches and cream, it’s not. There are ups and downs and moments you may want to throw in the towel, but it’s all worth it. It’s the most wonderful personal development journey you’ll ever take.

If you know that you should be starting a business but keep talking yourself out of it, A Course in Personal Development, may be just what you need to help you say “yes” to what your heart is guiding you to do. You can learn more about this program here: LEARN MORE

Motivation, where did it go and how do I get it back?

Have you ever had the desire to do or have something but couldn’t find the motivation to actually get started? Maybe you got started but coudn’t motivate yourself enough to finish.  I’ve been there and it’s no fun. Because I have been there way too many times I want to share with you how to end the start and not finish cycle in your life.

First, when the motivation is lacking it’s usually because you’re not really clear about what you want. Clarity makes you excited, it gives you something to work towards. Without it, you’re going to wander aimlessly skipping from one project to the next, never completing anything.

Well, what if you have clarity but still no motivation? When you have clarity and no motivation it is most likely because you have clarity about the wrong thing. Are you doing what your heart is calling you to do or are you doing what you’re doing because everyone else is doing it? When you work in opposition to what God has called you to do it will always be a struggle; either you will not have motivation to finish or you will finish the work and be unhappy.

I was going to write more but I think that’s enough for you to think about and take action on. Until next time.

I’m Ready For Change Workshop

the-eleventh-hour-1156776_640

Hello! I have a question for you? Are you ready to change your current situation? I have a quote that I say a lot, “Nothing changed until I did.” I love this quote so much I even wrote about it for the Huffington Post (you can read it here).

There was a time in my life where it looked like I had it all, career, family, friends. I knew there was more to my life than the way I was living it. I didn’t know how to access that “more” at the time though. All that I felt was stuck, unfulfilled, and unmotivated. Can you relate? It’s the worse feeling, wanting change in your life but having no idea how to make it happen.

Since that time, I’ve discovered the key to ending procrastination, the key to getting unstuck, and the key to fulfillment. It starts with knowing what you want and knowing how to get there. Of course there is a lot more in between and that’s what I want to share with you during the I’m Ready For Change call.

What do you want to change in your life? Do you want a better marriage, a promotion on your job, better relationships, to feel happy again, to start a business, or lose the weight and keep it off? Whatever it is, it’s not going to happen until you do something to make it happen.

Here’s some of what you’ll learn on the call:

  • Exactly what you need to do to have BIG change in your life
  • How to get what you want
  • How to know what you want
  • How to get unstuck
  • Time management strategies
  • Habits for success

Are you ready to embrace change so that you can have the life you really want? Join me live on Tuesday May 16 at 12 pm ET for I’m Ready For Change. You really don’t want to miss this. Staying the Course

sport-1201014_1280

Have you ever stepped out to do something that was a huge leap of faith for you? It required faith in yourself and faith in God. Let me tell you, it’s not for the distracted. You have to continuously remind yourself of why you made the decision to take the leap and stay there. Don’t give up, stay away from those you know will plant seeds of doubt. Surround yourself with other faith leapers, do it in person, through books, through videos and podcasts. Most importantly stay connected to the One who gave you the vision. Hold on tight because the first leap isn’t the only leap.

If you’re easily distracted you can develop new habits that will keep you focused on your goal or vision. Join me for the 7 Day Habit Challenge. Sign up here: 7 Day Habit Challenge
