3 Ways Clarity Will Change Your Life

Do you know what you want to have, be, and do? A lot of people live life without clear answers to these questions. They face each day agitated and stressed and are unsure why they feel that way.

These issues are then addressed with prescription meds, alcohol, or illegal drugs. What’s really being addressed are the symptoms of a bigger problem. That problem is lack of clarity.

Having clarity will change your outlook on life; it will give you life.

Here are a few things having clarity will do for you:

1. Reduce stress.

When you know what you want life becomes more simple. It’s easier to say “no” to the activities and people that pull you away from your goals and dreams.

2. Boost your confidence.

When you know what you want you walk a little taller. Clarity builds confidence.

3. Wake you up excited to live your life.

Knowing what you desire gives you something to focus on. When you’re focused you have purpose and that is what will wake you up excited each day. In my next blog post I’ll talk about how to stay motivated.

If you’re lacking clarity in your life I want to encourage you to take the time to get clear about what you’d like to have happen in your life. Not sure how to get clarity? This free download has 10 things you can do to have clarity. You can get it here: 10 Things For Clarity

Life and our choices can take us along some winding paths. Did you know that I was an environmental toxicologist and a college instructor before becoming a personal development coach (you can read more about it here ABOUT ME )? I’ve learned so much in both careers and my experiences have made me a better coach.

Don’t be discouraged by the journey you’re on. Every experience that you have has a purpose. What roads have you traveled to get where you are today? Make the most of all of it. If you feel like you’re going through the motions and not living life the way you know it can be lived, let’s talk and get you on the path to living a life you want to wake up to each day. Lessons learned from Ben

Dog lying down

Ben

I learned a lesson from my mom’s dog, Ben. Ben is a gentle bear, he’s so sweet and he loves to be cuddled (all day!). When Ben wants to be cuddled he does whatever it takes to receive the love, he pushes his way between whatever barrier is keeping him from my hands, he pushes any one or my other dog out of the way, he positions his head so that you have no choice but to pet him. He really knows how to get what he wants. So here are lessons learned from Ben.

Ben has reminded me that:

  • If you want something go after it
  • Don’t be deterred if you’re told no, keep trying
  • Know what you want
  • Don’t let others stop you from getting what you want

There is so much we can learn from observing the world around us. Pay attention and put into action what you observe. Most importantly, go after what you want, implement some of the lessons learned from Ben and see what’s possible. If believing you can achieve your big dreams is a struggle for you schedule a complimentary call with me. Lesson learned from FAU football

This is going to be quick. The 2016 college football season ended with Florida Atlantic University (FAU) having a record of 3-9 overall and 2-6 in their conference (espn.com). For the 2017 season they hired a new coach, the former offensive coordinator at University of Alabama, Lane Kiffin. To say the team has been transformed is an understatement. Lane Kiffin has turned a team with years of having a losing record, to a winning team. Incredible! Why am I even talking about football and coaching on my blog? I wanted you to see what a difference good coaching and good mentoring can make.

I am so proud of FAU football and grateful that I get to watch this transformation happen. It has inspired me so much. The lesson I learned from FAU football is that we all have so much potential in us and sometimes all it takes is having the right people in our lives or being in the right environment to pull it out of us. Be great.

Quiet Time Gives Life: 5 Signs that it’s time for some

Me having quiet time in a tree

Me having quiet time in a tree

Quiet time. It seems like a rare commodity. People are not making time for it anymore. I wonder why? Are they afraid of it? Are you afraid to be alone with yourself and God? Quiet time gives life, could this be why it is so elusive?

Lately my quiet time has not been a priority. I’ve been squeezing it in after everything else in my day is done and I’m so tired that the time I’ve been spending is so short. It’s time for me to make it a number one priority again, nothing should come before my quiet time, my time with the Lord. Once I spend time with Him He shows me how to manage my time for everything else. Once I spend time with Him, the answers to whatever problems I may be facing become clear and I am equipped to face whatever life dishes out. Quiet time gives you life and here’s how to tell that you haven’t made it a priority:

  1. You feel like your life is out of control.
  2. You feel agitated.
  3. You struggle to make decisions.
  4. Something is bothering you and you can’t seem to put your finger on what it is.
  5. You’re not the nicest person to be around.

If the list resonated with you, it’s time to make quiet time with the Lord a priority. Start where you are, wake up a few minutes earlier, go to bed a few minutes later, do whatever it takes but start somewhere. You don’t have to have big chunks of time to get started, 15 minutes is a good starting point. As you spend time with the Lord He’ll show you how to free up more time for what matters most.

Spending time alone may be difficult for you, your mind races, you can’t focus, the attention deficit really kicks in. It’s ok, keep going. The more you have time alone, the easier it will become to quiet your mind. During your quiet time tell the Lord why you’re there, what you’re feeling and then just wait on Him; He’ll give you everything you need, sometimes right then, sometimes as you go about your day. Trust Him and when you hear, obey. Your quiet time gives life, don’t go without it. Let me know how having quiet time has made your life better.

3 Things To Avoid If You Desire a Great Week

If you’re feeling like I am, you’re probably ready to have a great week. What’s a great week? I’m talking about a week of intentional living. A week where you live your life on purpose and with a purpose. A week that will leave you feeling so fulfilled that you’re bursting from the seams with joy. Have you ever had a week like this? I have and whenever it happened it was usually because I planned a really good week, I was intentional about having an amazing week. Do you want a week like this? Do you believe this type of week is possible and that it’s possible for you?

I asked the question about you believing that a great week being possible for you because I have encountered so many women and men who want to have a better life but believe that it’s too late or it’s not possible because they’re already living life a certain way. This type of thinking has to go. I want you to know that an amazing life is very possible for you, especially if you’re not doing these 3 things.

3 Things To Avoid If You Desire a Great Week.

  1. Not making a decision. The first step to having a great week is to choose to have one. You have to decide, make a decision, without it you won’t be committed to ensuring that your week is great.
  2. Not having a plan. A great week can just happen, however, you can have great weeks anytime you desire by being intentional about your week. Planning for a wonderful week increases the likelihood that it will happen. When you’re not intentional about your week you will probably have a lot of incomplete items on your to do list, more stress, and quite possibly miss out on some really good opportunities all because you didn’t make a plan for them.
  3. Not taking action. A great week is going to require taking action. Like I said above, these type of weeks don’t usually just happen. With that in mind, what steps are you taking, not talking about, what are you actually doing to ensure that you have an epic week?

I created a FREE 4 week email course called The Life You Really Want to walk you through steps to take to having a wonderful life. It’s going to be fun, join me! The goal of the course is for you to experience how the power of being intentional can change your life. If you want to:

  1. Get clear on what you want your life to be like.
  2. Wake up ready to greet your day instead of dreading it.
  3. Be motivated to get things done.
  4. Have a spectacular life.

An amazing life is possible for you. Your entire life can change because you are intentional about your week. Which of the 3 Things To Avoid If You Desire a Great Week will you be turning around? Sign up for the Life You Really Want email course and start having great weeks now. SIGN UP HERE

The High Cost of Settling: Are you Settling?

Catacombs: Paris, France

How many times have you eaten pasta when what you really wanted was a nice cheesy burrito? Or stayed in a relationship with someone you knew wasn’t “the one”, but you didn’t want to “put yourself” out there again? How about this one, remained in a job that left you feeling like you died a little every day because in 3 more years you’ll be vested? Settling seems like the easy thing to do because it doesn’t require change but it comes with a very high cost.

So, are you settling? If you answer yes to several of these then you’re probably settling. Are you:

  • Bored
  • Tired a lot
  • Daydreaming a lot
  • Procrastinating:
  • Not excited about your day
  • Have a lot of excuses for not taking action
  • Not taking action
  • Envious of others
  • Self-medicating
  • Saying “I wish I  could…” I wish I had…” I hoped I would have had…” “I regret that I didn’t…”
  • Doubting yourself
  • Doubting that you can have what you want

On the surface, settling seems easy to do, however, it comes with a high cost. I don’t think you realize just how high. Here’s what settling can cost you:

  • Happiness
  • Opportunity
  • Peace of mind

Wow, that list is pretty powerful. By settling you are setting yourself up for a life of unhappiness, stress, frustration, and lots of missed opportunities. Is that how you really want to live your life? Do you really prefer unhappiness over happiness, frustration and stress over peace of mind? I didn’t think so. So, why is that each day that you wake up you choose what you don’t really want, each day you wake up and make the decision to settle for what you do not want? Sounds harsh right? Hopefully it’s the wake up call for you to make a different choice. There is a high cost for settling. Are you settling? Stay tuned for steps you can take to stop settling and make your dream life your real life. You can read more about making your dream life your real life here: Your Dream Life Can Become Your Real Life

Share with me what settling has cost you and what you’re going to do about it.

Make the Shift

I love horses, their strength and power truly inspire me. When I see horses in pictures and in nature I get so happy and want to do something. Why don’t I have a picture of me with horses? I have to make that happen. I digress, back to my original thought.

A while back, I made a decision to take action to live the life I really desired to live. There was one problem though, my action was not consistent. You probably know what happened, that life I desired was not showing up 🙁

You see, it wasn’t until I committed to taking consistent action towards what I desired that things began to shift for me. Gradually I noticed changes in me, I was becoming the person I wanted to be. I began having big shifts, incredible opportunities started showing up for me, and I wasn’t feeling stuck and unfulfilled any more.

My consistent action was resulting in more ideas, more money, more opportunity, and more freedom for me. Was it easy getting here? NO! Was it worth it? DEFINITELY!

Will you commit today to taking consistent action towards what you want in your life?

Change happens when you’re ready for change to happen

I’m telling you, nothing changed in my life until I did. I’m just keeping it real. You see, I tried all the shortcuts to having the life that I wanted but none of it work. You want to know why? There are no shortcuts! You have to do the work. I was really good at starting things. I would be so excited and gung ho about my next venture. A few weeks in and I would fizzle, things weren’t happening quick enough, there was so much to be done, and I wasn’t sure that this was it anyway. So, I’d regroup and move on to the next good idea. Talk about frustrating! Well, it wasn’t frustrating enough because I continued this pattern for several more years. I wanted change but didn’t know how to change.

Then, it happened, my wake up call. I finally realized that there must be something to the information all the self-help books, personal development training, and countless interviews of successful people. These people all said the same thing…maybe there are no shortcuts, maybe there is no reinventing the wheel.

You see, nothing changed for me until I did. The same is true for you. If you want to have clarity in your life, see big change happen, and accomplish the things that you desire in your life, you have to become the person who has a clear idea of where you are headed, have a plan to get there, and do what’s required to achieve it.

The business you want to start, the amazing relationship you want, the degree you’ve been dreaming of, the leadership position at work, none of it is going to happen until you become a person who makes things happen.

Still not sure this is for you? How long have you been frustrated with how you’re living your life? Waking up each day saying “there has to be more to life than this?” How long will you continue to wake up disappointed with yourself because you know that you can be and do so much more? How long will you remain the same and not change to have the life you really desire?

If you’ve read this far, I know that you’re ready to take your life to the next level. You’re ready to show up in your life and achieve all that you know is possible for you. During private mentoring with me you’ll get clear about what you desire, identify limiting beliefs that have you playing small in your life, create a plan to have what you desire to be, do, or have in your life, and implement your plan.

Motivation, where did it go and how do I get it back?

Have you ever had the desire to do or have something but couldn’t find the motivation to actually get started? Maybe you got started but coudn’t motivate yourself enough to finish.  I’ve been there and it’s no fun. Because I have been there way too many times I want to share with you how to end the start and not finish cycle in your life.

First, when the motivation is lacking it’s usually because you’re not really clear about what you want. Clarity makes you excited, it gives you something to work towards. Without it, you’re going to wander aimlessly skipping from one project to the next, never completing anything.

Well, what if you have clarity but still no motivation? When you have clarity and no motivation it is most likely because you have clarity about the wrong thing. Are you doing what your heart is calling you to do or are you doing what you’re doing because everyone else is doing it? When you work in opposition to what God has called you to do it will always be a struggle; either you will not have motivation to finish or you will finish the work and be unhappy.

I was going to write more but I think that’s enough for you to think about and take action on. Until next time.
