Quiet Time Gives Life: 5 Signs that it’s time for some

Me having quiet time in a tree

Quiet time. It seems like a rare commodity. People are not making time for it anymore. I wonder why? Are they afraid of it? Are you afraid to be alone with yourself and God? Quiet time gives life, could this be why it is so elusive?

Lately my quiet time has not been a priority. I’ve been squeezing it in after everything else in my day is done and I’m so tired that the time I’ve been spending is so short. It’s time for me to make it a number one priority again, nothing should come before my quiet time, my time with the Lord. Once I spend time with Him He shows me how to manage my time for everything else. Once I spend time with Him, the answers to whatever problems I may be facing become clear and I am equipped to face whatever life dishes out. Quiet time gives you life and here’s how to tell that you haven’t made it a priority:

  1. You feel like your life is out of control.
  2. You feel agitated.
  3. You struggle to make decisions.
  4. Something is bothering you and you can’t seem to put your finger on what it is.
  5. You’re not the nicest person to be around.

If the list resonated with you, it’s time to make quiet time with the Lord a priority. Start where you are, wake up a few minutes earlier, go to bed a few minutes later, do whatever it takes but start somewhere. You don’t have to have big chunks of time to get started, 15 minutes is a good starting point. As you spend time with the Lord He’ll show you how to free up more time for what matters most.

Spending time alone may be difficult for you, your mind races, you can’t focus, the attention deficit really kicks in. It’s ok, keep going. The more you have time alone, the easier it will become to quiet your mind. During your quiet time tell the Lord why you’re there, what you’re feeling and then just wait on Him; He’ll give you everything you need, sometimes right then, sometimes as you go about your day. Trust Him and when you hear, obey. Your quiet time gives life, don’t go without it. Let me know how having quiet time has made your life better.

The REAL Reason You Are Stuck

I know all too well what it feels like to be stuck. I was stuck for a very long time. It was such a frustrating place to live. I knew that I was not where I was supposed to be but I wasn’t clear on where I wanted to be. I had no idea how to get unstuck. Does this sound familiar?

After many years I finally got clear on what I wanted to do, be, and have. This clarity allowed me to create a plan of action to change my life. Getting here was not easy for me. I had much loss, disappointment, and frustration…unnecessarily.

Yes, you read correctly. Much of my turmoil was unnecessary and caused by yours truly. While I did not like the journey to get where I am, unstuck. My experience allows me to help so many people, people just like you. So, get ready for what I’m about to tell you. It may hurt but if you consider what I am saying you’ll realize it’s true. If you do what I suggest, things will change for you.

The real reason that you are stuck is one of the following:

1. You have not sought the Lord for His plan for your life.

When someone tells me that they’re stuck I know that they have not sought the Lord concerning His plan for their life. God promises to give us wisdom if we ask for it in faith (James 1:5).

If you’re stuck take some time, get quiet and seek the Lord. He says He’ll answer so keep seeking until you have your answer. If I told you I buried one million dollars in your backyard for you, I am pretty certain that you would not dig in one spot for 3 minutes and give up if you didn’t find it. You would keep digging until you found it. All day, all night, all week if you had to. Use that same approach for finding out God’s will for your life. He has it, don’t stop seeking Him until you have it.

2. You know God’s plan for your life but are choosing not to do it.

If you have sought the Lord for His plan for your life and He has told you and you have chosen to go a different direction, you will feel stuck.

God’s plan for your life is good (Jeremiah 29:11). He is God, He knows everything. If He tells you to do something, it’s  best for you. Even if what He is telling you to do doesn’t seem to be the answer to what you currently need.  Even if what He says makes no sense to you. Even if what He says scares you because you don’t think you’re equipped to do it. He knows best, His way is best. Obey Him or continue living in the land of the stuck.

There you have it, the real reason you’re stuck. Find out God’s plan for your life and do it!

One thing I’m proud of

peacock-214815_1280

Today’s blog challenge is for me to write about one thing I’m proud of. Wow, I think God is trying to get my attention. I was asked this question last week while completing a goal setting workbook, this week in a conversation with a friend, and now today. So, what’s one thing I’m proud of?

I am proud of how I handled the many, many challenges I faced in 2015. 2015 was a year of incredible challenges and growth for me. I was challenged spiritually, in my health, finances, career, and purpose. The challenges were relentless, I would end one and enter another. I felt like I was in a battle and I was. During this time I clung to the Lord. I know that He is the only reason that I am still sane and can sleep at nights. Seriously, if you do not have a relationship with the Lord I encourage you to “taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8 KJV Bible). My troubles did not go away but He helped me to live despite what was going on around me.

I am proud of myself for seeking God first and not losing hope. I am proud of myself for continuing to press in, asking questions, learning, staying in faith, asking more questions, trusting, believing, pressing in, asking questions, trusting. What are you proud of?

Hiding

I have a confession to make. I’m ashamed of myself. I’ve been hiding someone so wonderful from you all. Keeping Him safely tucked away, showing glimpses of Him every now and then. Don’t misunderstand, He is in no way forgotten. He’s my constant companion. It’s because of Him that I am.
I’ve been hiding Him because I didn’t want to turn people off before they even had a chance to see all the good stuff I have to offer (yes, I know). I figured I’d keep Him low key and if people wanted to know more I’d share more one on one.

I can’t hide Him anymore. Every post that I want to write every product that I create He’s in there. He’s so intricately wrapped up in who I am that I can’t separate the message from the One who gave me the message.

So today I’m going to introduce you to my Source, my Hope, my Redeemer, my constant Companion, the Lord Jesus Christ. The triune being, my Father, who sent His Son Jesus Christ to die, be buried, and ressurected from the dead, so that we can live. The Holy Spirit, sent by the Father so that we can be comforted and receive guidance while here on earth.

Say hello and like the psalmist David, I too pray that you taste and see that the Lord is good.
